Evolution is Dove’s daring idea. The clip admittedly aims at strengthening the values of a diversity of tastes and the return of self-esteem, against the usual perception of a monoculture beauty the various media pours over us on a daily basis.
To closely follow the metamorphosis and the manufacturing process of a beauty icon the spitting image of the frosty posters on the walls of our towns puts us face to face with our own image and ourselves.
It doesn’t mean we should go to the opposite extreme and imagine that rare beauty doesn’t exist if not made up in studio.
Evolution wants to make us aware of all beauty types, not only the standard beauty enforced upon us. Brand name education !?!
Let’s hope Dove will renew the experience, and that it’s not just another marketing trick even if a well done one.
