Weegee was an autodidact photographer who knew instinctively how to turn a press picture into a society cliché. His pictures will inspire Pop Art artists, Andy Wharol used cars accidents pictures from Weegee for his Orange Disaster série.

Confronted to terrible scenes, he brought up humor which gave another dimension to photography.
Weegee restituted a portion of time between 1930 and 1945, period indissociable to the american "Film noir", and for some, he's the inspiration.

The exhibit at the Maillol Museum is a great premiere for France, as most of the pictures haven't been seen before in public.

- Standing up against segregation.
- The night world, his adentures at Sammy's.
- Sleep, Coney Island, accidents, fires, and anything strange.
