“Ultra Peau” – Ultra skin - is an original way of learning about skin through science, art and philosophy. This exhibition crosses artistic territories and gathers 30 established or emerging artists. To help the visitors considering skin in a new way, it is composed as a trip built up with and by these artists and offers a unprecedented vision of skin to the audience. At its core, the visitors live a unique, creative, innovative experience, appealing to all senses so they can rediscover their skin. Installations, videos and interventions display an unusual and playful overview on skin. In this instance, the Palais de Tokyo, in collaboration with Nivea, plays the role of a search lab. Art is the starting point of this exhibition, and develops an original consideration on this little known organ. A dialogue amongst all the senses connects the visitors so they can learn about themselves… and their skin!
“Ultra Peau” invites the audience to discover uncharted territories. Thanks to the installations, the skin reveals all its appearances through an interactive mode. The exhibition is composed of different educational and esthetical spaces. High tech and ancient rites will entice the visitors to modulate, vibrate and feel…
The selection of artworks displayed here are spontaneously eclectic and become part of a sensory experiment. A Skin Wall creates stunning visual effects to understand phenomena linked to the skin. Through science, design and thanks to the wild imagination of the artists, the skin is “caressed” in every way. Videos are integrated in a confined space and projected on a ceiling. The audience lies down to appreciate a screen transformed into a virtual skin. Luminous projections drape the visitors in various shapes and colours sliding across the whole space like silk… or a new skin.
