Maiko Takeda’s fragile and adolescent grace hides other facets and, just like Stephen Jones, whom she assisted, she has acquired a taste for extreme and particular worlds.
With a passion for sciences, mathematics and the bizarre, searching for intensity, she is interested by contrasts and rejects half-heartedness.
Creator of remarkable pieces such as her “Whippedcream” hat or the Juan Miro inspired “Counterbalance” hat, her accessories collection named “Cinematography” spirits us away into a world where motifs are projected onto the skin, where jewellery evolves into sculpture and where body and adornments meld together like a chameleon.
With stencils, metal, perforation, different levels of transparency revealed by light, she projects the subtle hue of a cinematographic image, which appears like the illusion of a jewel.
Skin, transformed here into an ephemeral and surrealist work of art, reinvents a vision of Glamorama.
Maiko, who already masters the traits of an intense and resilient style, is emblematic of a new generation of precocious and passionate young designers
